Court Cases

Full Note: 

1. FullCaseName, Volume# AbreviatedReporter* OrdinalSeries# (Year). 

*Reporter refers to the report the decision is published in. For example, Supreme Court Cases are published in the United States Reports. The abbreviation is U.S. 

Example: 

3. McCulloch v. Maryland, 17 U.S. 316 (1819).

Subsequent Note: 

5. McCulloch, 17 U.S. at* 25.

*add "at" to your citation when referencing  a specific page number.

Bibliography 

Court Cases are usually only required to be cited using footnotes or in-text citations. They do not need to be included in the bibliography. See  Section 14.271 in the Chicago Manual of Style for more information.
