All research databases have the ability to filter results (just like online shopping). It allows you to take your search results and tailor them in more specific ways.

Filters (Limiters) in Galileo

Across the top you'll see the most commonly used filters - Full Text, Peer Reviewed, Date Range, and Type of Source.

 

 

Additional Filters

Now that we've touched on the highlights of the basic search options, let's look at some other tools Galileo has to offer!

Click on All Filters (top left corner) and you'll see more options, including those common ones that are visible across the top.

Let's highlight the function of a few of these...

  1. Peer Reviewed: Need scholarly or peer reviewed articles? Check this box!
  2. Publication Date: If you need more date options that the three provided on the top bar, this allows you to do a custom date range!
  3. Geography: Looking for something published in the United States? This one is for you!   
  4. Subject: Are you searching for sources within a particular subject? This filter will help!
