Open Educational Resources
Here are a few starting points regarding open educational resources.
(Your GHC librarians would be happy to put their search skills to work for you if you need something more specific!)
Affordable Learning Georgia
A one-stop service to help USG faculty and staff identify lower-cost, electronic, free, and open educational resources (OERs), building on the cost-effective subscription resources provided by GALILEO and the USG libraries
MERLOT currently indexes tens of thousands of discipline-specific learning materials, learning exercises, and Content Builder web pages, together with associated comments, and personal collections, all intended to enhance the teaching experience of using a learning material. All of these items have been contributed by the MERLOT member community, who have either authored the materials themselves, or who have discovered the materials, found them useful, and wished to share their enthusiasm for the materials with others in the teaching and learning community.
Open SUNY Textbooks is an open access textbook publishing initiative established by State University of New York libraries and supported by SUNY Innovative Instruction Technology Grants.
This initiative publishes high-quality, cost-effective course resources by engaging faculty as authors and peer-reviewers, and libraries as publishing service and infrastructure.
OpenStax College offers students free textbooks that meet scope and sequence requirements for most courses. These are peer-reviewed texts written by professional content developers. Adopt a book today for a turnkey classroom solution or modify it to suit your teaching approach. Free online and low-cost in print, OpenStax College books are built for today’s student budgets.
OpenStax CNX is a dynamic non-profit digital ecosystem serving millions of users per month in the delivery of educational content to improve learning outcomes.
There are tens of thousands of learning objects, called pages, that are organized into thousands of textbook-style books in a host of disciplines, all easily accessible online and downloadable to almost any device, anywhere, anytime.
InfoLit Tutorial Resources
These resources are geared to librarians, but they include lots of material for basic skills like citations, researching, and other information literacy skills.
MERLOT's Library and Information Services
The collection of MERLOT's "Library and Information Services" learning objects and tutorials are not stored by MERLOT, but instead are linked to their original sources. Most of the materials are licensed under creative commons - details for each are listed with the learning object/tutorial.
LIONTV: Library Information Literacy Online Network
Content at this site is produced by professional librarians who work together across institutions to develop programs. Participants in this project agree to make these episodes openly available for others to link to, embed, share, download, or edit, provided the appropriate credit is assigned to the author.
