Psychology Subject Guide: Books

This research guide is for students enrolled in GHC psychology courses.

Books

Books are a great place to start your research. They usually offer a broader overview of a topic compared to the more narrow focus of an article. GHC has books across its campus locations, and ebooks available online.

Using ebooks

To use ebooks from off-campus, you'll need the GALILEO password, which you can get by logging into your GIL account. Some ebooks may also request a GHC login (the same username & password you use for GHC email). Questions? Contact the library!

Get more information about using GHC's ebooks here.

Find books & more

Search for books, ebooks, DVDs, periodicals, and more @ GHC or other libraries:

Go to: GHC GIL Catalog  |  GIL Universal Catalog

My account: get GALILEO password, renew books online, check requests

Can't find what you need? These instructions show you how to order books from other GHC or USG campuses!

Finding Psychology Books

Most college libraries use the Library of Congress (LC) system to arrange their books. The main thing that you need to know about this system is that LC books are arranged alphabetically by subject; conveniently, these subjects usually go along with college majors. Here's a list of all of the subjects in LC - as you can see, Psychology books are in the B's along with Philosophy and Religion.

A call number is the code that you use to find a book on the shelf.

Tip: The most important thing to remember about Library of Congress is that books are arranged alphabetically by subject.
