The Task

This task will introduce you to different subject databases, and will take place during the live library session. You will work in breakout sessions for part one, and report back to the entire class in part two.

Details:

  • 20 minutes introduction and organization
  • 40 minutes in your breakout session
  • 15 minutes report-back time

The Research Question

Here is the research question:

What conflict exists between the pursuit of science and religious or ethical considerations in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein?

Make sure you take advantage of all the tools Galileo databases have to offer: filters, advanced search, and boolean operators! You can find information about all these under the "Using Galileo" tab!

Breakout Session Instructions

You will have 30 minutes in your breakout session to complete searches based on the research question above. You will need to document the following on the worksheet provided:

  1. Describe the process your group went through as you located your article. include the following:
    1. What keywords did you start with?
    2. How did you modify or change the keywords as you continued to search? 
    3. Which database filters did you use? Were they a useful tool?
    4. How did you decide which article to select?
  2. The citation of the article you chose.
