What is it?
The content of this database is composed of primary sources written by women. Diaries and letters are available from early colonial times to the mid 20th century. Search for a specific person, browse by historical event, or by a specific time period.

When should I use it?
When you are looking for:

  • History from a woman's perspective
  • First hand accounts of historical events
  • Accounts of personal events, such as childbirth

Why we like it!
Take a peek at Julia Heller's Boyfriend Book for a good laugh. Whether you look at a travel diary written on the brink of a world war, or read the letters of Abigail Adams, you're bound to find something fascinating.
