Information Literacy Objectives
Upon completion of information literacy instruction, students should be able to:
Build an effective search strategy utilizing keywords, key phrases, and synonyms.
Identify appropriate library databases for specific research needs.
Search the library catalog in order to locate an appropriate resource.
Step 1:
Good research starts with good search strategies. The "Search Strategies" tab provides information about keyword searching, the most important tool in the research toolbox!
Step 2:
Exploring Galileo is your next step. The "Galileo: Articles" tab will explain what Galileo is, and the sub-tabs discuss searching (using those keyword skills!) and using subject databases.
Step 3:
Next we move over to Gil-Find, our book catalog. Literary criticism is often found in both print and e-books. This tab explains how to locate books, and how to request them!
Step 4:
Finally we come to internet sources and how to evaluate them. You've probably heard the saying, "not everything you read on the internet is true!" This tab gives you some tools to tell the truth from the fiction!
