INFORMATION LITERACY LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of information literacy instruction, students should be able to:

  1. Differentiate between types of source materials (e.g., books, journal articles, websites, newspapers).
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of basic GALILEO functions.
  3. Build an effective search strategy including determining keywords

Library Guide Helpful Tips!

STEP 1:

First we will talk about the TYPES OF SOURCES tab. This will help you understand the different types of sources you may encounter when you start searching in Galileo.

STEP 2:

Next we will discuss keyword search strategies - the basic building block for doing good research. 

STEP 3:

Finally we'll take a look at Galileo. I'll highlight a couple of great tips to help you manage your research, and we will talk briefly about basic search strategies, especially how to use keywords to find what you need.
