Testing Deadline

If you are required to take the placement exam in order to complete your application file for admission to Spring Semester 2018, please be aware that the last day to take the placement exam is December 17, 2017. This deadline applies to both first attempt and retest attempt (applicants are allowed one retest per calendar year from the first attempt).

To register for a test date, please log into "Check Admission Status" at the following web link, https://discovery.highlands.edu:8888/pls/APPSTATUS/appl_status.login

If you do not complete placement testing and register for Spring classes, you must complete another GHC application for admission in order to move your file to a future term.

If you have questions regarding admissions, please email admitme@highlands.edu or for placement testing, e-mail testing@highlands.edu .

ACCUPLACER Placement Test Policy

The ACCUPLACER Placement Test helps to assess eligibility for admission to Georgia Highlands College (GHC) and helps determine the level of college courses a prospective student is academically prepared to handle.

  • Georgia Highlands College currently gives the Classic version of the ACCUPLACER exam.
  • The ACCUPLACER Test is an untimed test taken on a computer.
  • The ACCUPLACER Test has three sections: Elementary Algebra, WritePlacer, and Reading Comprehension.
  • Only those applying to GHC may take the ACCUPLACER test at GHC.
  • Sign up for ACCUPLACER through the link found on Check Admission Status page.
  • The fee for the ACCUPLACER Test is $30 [for both initial session and retake session (if needed)].
  • A valid photo ID card is required at check in.
  • Only one ACCUPLACER Placement Test + one retest can be taken in a 12-month period.
  • Applicants who took ACCUPLACER at another institution within the past 12 months should have scores sent to the GHC Admissions Office and they will determine whether previous ACCUPLACER scores can be accepted by GHC.
  • Students may not retest once they have registered for courses.
