For this project, you will choose a song that includes a lyric dealing with a current issue. Research the issue, choose a position toward the issue, and form an argumentative/persuasive essay of approximately 800-1,000 words detailing your position.
Examples of current issues would include (but are not restricted to): suicide, ADD, teen pregnancy, abortion, child support, child abuse, violence, drug/alcohol abuse, gang activity, a hot-button political topic, etc., etc.
The song you select is merely a springboard into the essay. The song, itself, will not need to be researched.
You will need to follow the correct MLA format when writing your essay (i.e., typed in MS Word, using 12 point Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins, double-spaced with MLA Headers, and include a Works Cited page at the end of your paper).
Your essay must employ at least TWO SECONDARY SOURCES, as well as parenthetical citations.
